Social Days 2008

February Wednesday 13

Venue: Stockade Botanical Park.                             click photo to enlarge

This park which is operated and owned by the Port Adelaide / Enfield City Councils, is maintained in immaculate condition. The lawns are well grassed and the trees give adequate shade for large numbers of visitors.

Bob welcomed the group and discussed upcoming trips.

Don introduced new potential members Chris and Christine and we hope they will join our happy group. Don also demonstrated a unique fishing rod and reel, and apparatus for fishing in an "ice hole". All very unusual.

Colin won the lucky- number prize: a bottle of port.

The 38 members who attended came from as far away as Victor Harbor, to as close as "just around the corner".

The weather could not have been better: 23.6°, fine and sunny.

May Wednesday 14

Venue: Don and Joy's place.                                    click photo to enlarge

Kath won the door prize: a disk clock with every member's "mugshot" on the face.

The 36 members and our two visitors, Christine and Chris, who attended, enjoyed a wonderful sunny day with the temperature reaching 25°. Most brought a cut lunch but a few die-hards made the group envious with lovely odours coming from the barbeque area. Steaks, sausages and onions being the culprits!

A certain member forgot his camera, but thanks to Coral, some lovely shots of the group were taken.

A short meeting was held to discuss the upcoming trip to Elliston in July, with plenty of input from the group.

Another great day to catch up with Fishing Group Members.

October Wednesday 15

Venue: Peter and Merle's place.                                click photo to enlarge

Forty five members attended our Social Day held at Peter and Merle's place, Walkley Heights. The weather was great, 19.1º fine and sunny.

Bob welcomed new Fishing Group members Roy and Ngaire, friends of Colin and Margaret. We hope that they enjoy being a part of our friendly group.

The home grown potted plants donated by Peter were quickly snapped up by the gardening enthusiasts of the group. Bob and Margaret donated home grown Asparagus and Snow-peas.

A BBQ facility was available, as was the urn with hot water, tea and coffee, and most made good use of it. After lunch the group enjoyed "ice-cream in a cone".

Later in the afternoon, scones made by Merle were enjoyed by all. Most having seconds.

A few of the lucky ones enjoyed a quick tour of the area in Allan and Kath's 1936 Austin 7, called "Ruby".

The lucky number was won by ... DON!

A very enjoyable afternoon.
